Our Programmes
Seva ke Karyakram — Programmes of Service
From collective marriages to legal aid, vocational training to girl education — every programme of Jan Seva Trust is a step towards a more just and compassionate society.
What We Do
Swami Vivekanand Mission Jan Seva Trust runs multiple community programmes in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh — each designed to address a specific social challenge faced by women, girls, and marginalised families. Our work is guided by the belief that lasting change comes from within communities.
Dignified weddings for orphaned and poor girls
Samuhik Vivah (Collective Marriage)
We organise Samuhik Vivah (mass marriage) ceremonies for orphaned, destitute, and economically poor adult girls. We act as guardians, providing essential household items — utensils, bedding, clothing, and more — so every bride is sent off with dignity and love. In the past 14 years, over 14,000 girls have been married with honour through this programme.
- 14,000+ girls married with dignity
- Essential household items provided to every bride
- Block-level selection of eligible candidates
- Grooms provided with e-rickshaw or mobile restaurant for livelihood
Awareness and action against child marriage
Bal Vivah Rokho (Stop Child Marriage)
We conduct awareness meetings with parents and community leaders to prevent child marriage. Families who pledge to marry their daughters only after they come of age are supported with essential materials as encouragement. We work with district administration and legal authorities to intervene in cases of underage marriage.
- Community awareness camps at block level
- Pledge drives with parents and community leaders
- Coordination with district administration
- Support materials for families who delay marriage till adulthood
Skills for self-reliance
Swavalamban Prashikshan (Vocational Training)
We provide vocational training to girls and women — including tailoring, embroidery, computer skills, agarbatti (incense stick) making, and candle making. Our goal is to make every woman economically self-reliant and independent. Block-level training centres are being established across the region.

- Agarbatti and candle making
- Self-defence training (Judo, Karate)
- Block-level training centres
Justice and protection for every girl
Kanooni Sahayata (Legal Aid)

In coordination with district administration, we provide legal support, counselling, and intervention for cases involving domestic violence, dowry harassment, and other crimes against women.

Education as the foundation of empowerment

Health camps and awareness for rural women
